November 2019 TBR (or, an attempt to read what’s actually on my shelf)

It’s the first of November, and there is snow on the ground. There has been since yesterday, and I am both cold and unhappy about this. What I am happy about, though, is that cold weather is great for reading inside, curled up under a blanket…and that I have a great TBR this month.

I’m participating in a TBR Jar event this month with a group called We Be Book’n. The goal is to cut down on your existing TBR by having someone else pick the books from your list for you. I asked my partner to choose 8 books for me, from a much longer list, and these are the ones she selected:

  • The Astonishing Color of After
  • Eliza and Her Monsters
  • The Tenth Girl
  • A Curse So Dark and Lonely
  • The Cruel Prince
  • Gravemaidens
  • Watchmen
  • American Born Chinese

We actually both had Eliza and Her Monsters on our lists, so we are both reading it so we can discuss. In addition to those, I have a couple books that I added to the list because I either really want to or really need to read them this month:

  • Darkdawn (yes, I procrastinated so long on this one)
  • Thunderhead
  • This Is Going to Hurt (ARC)
  • Reverie (ARC)

The order of these books will be determined totally at random by picking out of a jar, per the event rules. The first title I drew was Watchmen, so I will be starting the month out with a graphic novel!

Finally, a quick apology: I know I’ve been a little MIA, with only two posts in the past week. It has been a tad stressful, now that I have my LSAT scores back and am actually working on my law school applications, AND I’m finally getting more info about my upcoming heart surgery, which means big-time stress. Hopefully I’ll be back to a normal posting schedule soon!

How many of these have you read? Thoughts on any of them? And do you have a TBR for this month? Let me know!

Much love,

Kathryn (“K-Specks”)

Ah, your list excites me! I loved ACSDAL and The Astonishing Color of After was such a beautiful and heartbreaking book! I was just thinking five minutes ago that I would finally read Darkdawn this November because I didn’t manage to get to it in October. I’m SO EXCITED but also, wah, can’t believe this series is basically over! Knowing Kristoff, this last book is going to (maybe literally) dead me 😂🙃 I hope you enjoy all these books, Kathryn!
