February 2020 Book Haul- Part 1 (or: my book photography skills are improving)

Hello, lovelies! I’m trying to get caught up on sharing all the books I’ve acquired recently, through a wide variety of sources (mostly giveaways, but a couple that just came from the publisher!). Note that this is only part of my haul for last month–you can expect more pretty pictures soon šŸ˜Š

Why We Swim

A nonfiction book that is literally about why humans love swimming and what draws us to the water, even though swimming does not come naturally to us. As a former high school swimmer, this is highly relevant to my interests.

The Glass Magician

Historical fantasy featuring some animal-shapeshifting rich people, magicians, and a nobody who performs a trick that goes horribly wrong. In other words, this sounds fascinating and exciting and so much fun.

Every Reason We Shouldn’t

A diverse YA rom-com about a competitive figure skater, with Asian representation and a protagonist dealing with her own family drama on top of this budding romance? Count me in. (I got this one very shortly before its release date last week, but I just started it and will get a review to you soon!)

Lobizona

Okay, illegal immigration + werewolves sounds like a ridiculous combination for any book, especially a YA, but I am so here for it. The publisher was also nice enough to send me a pair of stickers with the book title/logo!

So, what do you think?

Read any of these ARCs? Looking forward to their publication? Which one are you most excited to hear about? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Kathryn (“K-Specks”)

Nice! I’m excited for it. When I’m done, planning to pass my ARC on to my friend who teaches high school English for ESL students–most of her kids are Latinx, so the rep would be good for them, and ARCs always make reading a little more exciting for reluctant readers. (Assuming quarantine ends so she can get it to them, anyway…)
